Hello,
I would like an advice for my painting.
I started with a DAk force and I love the color scheme.
I'm starting now to paint my Ostfront german force but I would like to use a different color that the german grey color. Could I paint my troops more or like troops on African front (more or less).
with ocre, green, red or brown colors?
Is it making sense?
I really don't like the grey uniform.

Thanks

Dear Jerome...on the Ostfront the uniform of the German soldiers were basically FELDGRAU which is a pale dark greygreen.

Remember that during the conflict many uniform changed and also a lot of camo uniform were added...

Finally u can basically paint the uniform with a base from a color and then "weather" and "old" it with all the colors that u like...

Grey=dust from buildings
ocra=sand from russian country
red=wall bricks
black=burnts
brown=mud

You have the advantage that basically all the german troops were veterans and they were for a long time at the front so...NO CLEAN UNIFORMS

If u want sunday I can give u some nice vallejo historic/fantasy colors for that purpose...

Ciao Greg

If you don't want to use the "feldgrau" color scheme but want to stay close to "history" why don't think about another front just like the balkans where the german troops wear differents uniforms?
